First monthly publication in Portugal to offset emissions
With its September issue UP has become the first carbon neutral in-flight magazine. The fruit of a partnership with E.Value, UP has become the first monthly publication in Portugal to offset the greenhouse gas emissions linked to its production and printing, therefore further progressing TAP’s sustainability policy.
Every copy of UP emits, on average, about 200g of carbon dioxide equivalent (Co2e). To cancel out the climate effect, as from this issue, an equivalent quantity of carbon credits will be used selected from a portfolio of CarbonoZero®. offset projects. In the case of UP, credits will be generated for technological, agricultural and forestry projects based in developing countries, in particular in Brazil and Mozambique.
CarbonoZero® is a trademark of E.Value through which citizens and companies can assume their climate responsibility by quantifying, reducing and offsetting their carbon emissions. More than 100 business clients have now signed up and it includes large-scale projects such as Rock in Rio, Lisbon and Madrid, the signing of the Treaty of Rome and the Portuguese participation in Expo Shanghai 2010.
